Hours do not go missing on site
They go missing between the site and the invoice. A pad in the van, a note on a phone, a memory of a Thursday. Whoever types it up rounds down when they are unsure, because overcharging feels worse than undercharging. Do that across a year and the difference is a wage.
This is not a discipline problem, it is a distance problem. Shorten the distance between doing the work and recording it, and the rounding stops.
How the recording works
Start and stop on the job
Two taps on the phone, against a job that already exists. No job code to remember.
Travel and call-outs separate
Kept apart from labour, so they can be charged, absorbed or reported as you choose.
Correcting is normal
A booking can be adjusted with a reason, so the record stays honest instead of tidy.
Straight onto the invoice
Hours against the job are already there when you invoice. Nothing is retyped, so nothing is lost.
What you can see afterwards
Priced hours next to worked hours, per job. That one comparison tells you more about your pricing than a year of gut feel: which kinds of work you consistently underprice, and which customer always takes longer than the quote said.

Common questions
What are the rules on keeping working time records?
Keep working-time records for two years (Working Time Regulations 1998) and pay records for six (National Minimum Wage Regulations 2015). The HSE enforces the first, HMRC the second. This page is about getting hours onto the right job; your own adviser should look at how your contracts treat travel and overtime.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Bookings are stored on the device and sent when the connection comes back.
Can I use it for payroll?
The hours export as CSV or Excel per person, per day and per pay type, which BrightPay, Sage, Xero Payroll and QuickBooks Payroll all import. There is no direct payroll link.
Do subcontractors book time too?
They can. Where a CIS deduction applies, keeping labour and materials apart from the start matters — that has a page of its own.
