Three kinds of work, one set of engineers
A plumbing and heating firm runs breakdowns that cannot wait, services that must happen in a window, and installs that take days. They compete for the same people. The reason a week falls apart is almost never the breakdown itself — it is that the breakdown ate a morning that a service was quietly relying on, and nobody saw it until the customer rang.
What holds it together
Emergencies without wrecking the week
Drop an urgent job in and see immediately what it pushed, while there is still time to ring the next customer.
Service rounds that come back
Annual services renew on their own date with the reminder attached. No spreadsheet to keep up.
Certificates against the property
The CP12, the electrical certificates and the Benchmark checklist, filled in on site, signed, and findable a year later when a landlord asks.
Parts on the job
What went in, recorded where it was fitted, so it reaches the invoice rather than the price.
Gas work has its own paperwork
Anyone working on gas has to be registered, and that registration shows up on what the customer keeps. Keeping the record against the property and the appliance — not in the van — is the difference between answering a query in a minute and spending an afternoon on it.
Heat pumps change the shape of a job
Where a boiler swap is a day, a heat pump is a survey, a design, a grant and an install. Supply and installation of energy-saving materials in homes is zero rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5% (HMRC VAT Notice 708/6). Grants run differently by nation: the Boiler Upgrade Scheme in England and Wales, Home Energy Scotland north of the border, and neither in Northern Ireland.

Can I run service contracts through it?
Yes. Contracts renew on their own date and produce the list of properties due, rather than a reminder to look at a spreadsheet.
Does it do gas certificates?
The Landlord Gas Safety Record (CP12) and the Benchmark commissioning checklist. The record you complete is always kept against the property and the appliance.
Does the app work in a cellar with no signal?
Yes. What you record is stored on the device and sent when the connection comes back.
What about F-gas work?
Great Britain still runs the retained regulation and Northern Ireland follows the EU, so if you work both sides of that line the rules differ. What the software keeps is the same either way: an F-gas log per appliance with the charge, the refrigerant, its GWP and CO2e, every leak check with its date and result, and the engineer’s certificate number — which is what both regimes ask to see.
